Utah July 2011

After leaving Spokane way back in the beginning of July, We went to Utah for a family reunion. We enjoyed playing with cousins, going to the zoo, going to a 4th of July parade and fireworks, and soaking up some warm southern Utah weather before going to the frozen northland.

Moving Day

What a crazy week! I forgot how much I loathe the whole moving process. Jed has been working nonstop all month and that has left me with almost all of the work organizing and packing for our move. Then on the day of the move the utilites company makes this lovely hole in the bottom of our driveway. Actually they made 3 holes but I didn't get a picture of the other craters. We are glad we went with a moving company instead of a uhaul.

We are going to miss Spokane. We have had some great times and made great friends here. Hopefully we will get a few visitors when we get settled.

Let's hope we love Fairbanks because we have decided we never want to move again.

house painting

amidst packing and getting ready to move we have been trying to finish touch up paint on the house. Not so easy when you first have to scrape off all the peeling paint. Above is the before and after on the section I did and below is a picture of jed on the roof trying to get the hard spots. It is hard work but I must admit it does look a lot better.

hair tip

Want to try something new with your hair? Here's an idea. Take a whole roll of Charmin quilted ultra toilet paper (the thick stuff) plop it into a bathtub while your mom is filling it with water and distracted by a phone call from a realtor and dad is playing Warcraft, smush it around and tear it in little chunks until the water is filled with white and the cardboard tube is also floating in several peices. Then turn off the water and dunk yourself. Make sure you emphasize getting the pulp into as much of your hair as possible. Smile and make giggling noises when your mom gets off the phone and goes to check on the bath water. Pose for a cute photo. Rinse several minutes in the shower. Have your mom comb it for a half hour with a fine tooth comb to get remaining pulp. Drain the bathtub using a strainer. Have your mom repeat the fine tooth comb routine in the morning before you go to pre school to get the remaining fluff.

We had a fast but fun trip to Oregon for Memorial day. Congrats to Keaton on graduating. We are so proud of you! The girls were also thrilled to see baby Hannah. They asked me if they could feed her some more food so she could grow up to be their size.

We took a pit stop at Multnomoth Falls on our way home. So beautiful. Stopping and doing a little hike totally beats a stop at McDonalds playplace. :)
