another great chair makeover

Okay so here's another of my makeovers. I have always thought that little kids club chairs are so cute. They have one at target that I like but I couldn't bring myself to pay $60 for a kids chair.

When I was at the Liberty Lake garage sales with my friend Priscilla and I snagged this chair for 5 bucks. My initial plan was just to do a slip cover it but when I looked closer at the chair the fabric was pretty stained so I decided to gut it and reupholster it.
It took a really long time, and about 200 staples not to mention it ruined my nails but in the end I am really pleased with how it turned out. It is a black Naugahyde that should resist spills and not statically attract indy hair. I was going to do it in a zebra print but resisted the urge and went with something a little more neutral.

what do ya think?

more Hawaii

This last picture is from out little beach cottage. The view was terriffic. We went to bed and woke up each morning to the sound of the gentle surf. I could get used to that.

Paradise

Warning! These pictures will probably make you wish you were in Hawaii.

We had an AMAZING time in Hawaii! We met up with Terry and Lisa there and had the time of our lives.
Places we went (Warning: I don't speak or spell Hawaiian)
Honolulu-Haunauma Bay, Pearl Harbor/Arizona Memorial, Aloha Stadium Swap Meet
Punaluu-where our beach cottage was
Laie-Polynesian Cultural Center, Hukilau Cafe
Lanakai Beach- first picture, tried to snorkel there, the finest softest sand ever...but I'm still washing it out of my hair
Kailua beach-splashing in waves
Makapu'u beach-body surfing
Sharks Cove-where we snorkeled with the green sea turtles...my favorite part
Kualoa Ranch-went on a movie tour where they film LOST, Jurrasic Park, Mighty Joe Young etc.
And a few more places too.
There is almost to much to list.
While we were going Aunt Jessie, Keaton, and Krystal took care of Lizzy and Noey. They had a blast too chasing chickens, jumping on the trampoline, digging in dirt, going to wildlife safari, seeing a unicorn (old horse they called a unicorn) and having a tea party. A million thanks our babysitters who made this incredible trip possible. And thanks to Terry and Lisa for inviting us along.

re-seated

Another of my DIY projects. Total cost $5 for the chair, I used scrap fabric and paint I found in our basement to finish it. I think it looks MUCH better

Grandma Hazel

In loving memory of my Grandma Hazel
Today the world lost one of it's greatest mother, grandmother, and greatgranmothers. My grandma Hazel lived her life scattering sunshine along her path. She spent her life doing Christ-like service. She always put her family first and always let everyone know how special they are. When life gave her lemons she made lemonaide. I will miss her cheerful phone calls, soft hugs, and peanut butter cookies with chocolate kisses in the middle. I know that heaven is rejoicing to recieve one of its angels back.

Mothers Day

I'm so lucky to be a mom to two of the sweetest girls on earch. Elizabeth and Noelle bring so much joy to my life. I love their constant flow of energy and enthusiasm for life. Although, It is often times hard for me to keep up with them I'm glad to be along for the ride. Thanks girls!
Here we are sporting our VonTrap style dresses and skirt. I call my skirt the algebra skirt because I made up the pattern myself using algebra to figure out the size of each of the panels. I think this is the first time I have used this type of math since I finished college. So stay in school kids, you never know when years later you will want to make yourself a skirt and will actually need to solve a multi-variable equation.
