Planet of the Crepes
Happy earth day. We had crepes shaped like planets this week. My kids love to eat crepes. We have them more often for dinner than for breakfast.
Here's some bunny ones that Indy ate right after I took the picture.
I thought that by making food in fun shapes that my extremely picky eaters would be more apt to eat it. I think this works for most kids but when I made these kitty sandwiches Liz instantly respondeds "EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWw.....that's gross"
Aparently the itty bit of spinach that I used for the eyes was just too much for her.

Ready for spring
So I decided to do a spring mantle to trick myself into thinking it is spring even if we got snow this week. True to form, I didn't spend much money on this one and mostly used what I had already.
The book wreath-took foooooooooooooooooreeeevvvvvverrrrrrr but turned out cute and have had it up for a while I don't think I have it on the blog yet.
eggs- made them last year out of blown eggs after I saw some like it for sale for an outrageous price at pottery barn. Then I stacked them over brown scrapbook paper cut into little strips to look kinda like a nest. The cheese dish cover is a thrift store find last year.
The little birdies- the big purchase a buck a piece at the dollar store and I painted over them
The branches- in a vase I got for my birthday and found the branches in a parking lot near the hospital. I wish I had one of these trees in my yard. I figure the place wouldn't mind if I did some pruning free of charge.

tulip festival sans tulips

.

Here are a few pictures from the tulip festival.....too bad someone forgot to tell the tulips about it. Sometimes things don't go as planned and this was one of those things. I had envisioned taking some great photos of my sweet girls tip-toeing through the tulips. The reality was I was snapping quick shots of my wet and cold kids romping through the mud in front of one of the only flower patches we could find without a "no trespassing sign." This was done in between bursts of torrential rain and hail storms.
This year has been colder than normal so most of the tulips are yet to bloom. We did get some pretty views of the daffodils though. I love the picture of Noelle grimacing, it pretty much describes our morning perfectly.
The weather did not stop us from enjoying our time with "grandma Leen", we are looking forward to seeing her more this summer.

Minute to win it party
For my "embracing 30 party" we had some friends over to play Minute to Win it games. We had a lot of fun.
Jed and the girls helped make the cupcakes and I frosted them and topped them with little "30's" made of melting chocolate.
These are some of the games. The toilet paper mummy game made both Leslie and I sick for hours following the party so I propably sit that one out. Trying to get 160 tissues out of the box with one hand was probably my favorite game and I beat Rachel by a mere 2 tissues.
Here is Blake and Becca trying to keep feathers airborne and a picture of Jed after trying to keep 3 balloons in the air at once.
It actually looked like this when I bought it at the garage sale. Ugly hotel lobby flowers in it. It's amazing what spray paint can do.
